We’re so grateful you chose Liberty House to host your big day, Nicole and Chris! We hope it was everything you dreamed of and more. Cheers to October 31, 2021!
Let’s go back to the beginning… How did you two meet?

There is a debate on when we first actually met (and it was part of our story during our ceremony), but let’s say between 2013 and 2014 at either a music festival I was working, or in the lobby of an office where I interviewed for an internship. We both work in music and met through mutual friends.

So the love of your life popped the question and you said YES – Tell us how it happened!

On a random Saturday in December of 2019, my best friend Zoe wanted to hang out so we could exchange early Christmas gifts. We went to get our nails done (which was a normal thing we’d do) and got some fun Christmas themed drinks at Miracle on Mercer (aka Franklin Social) before meeting up with my husband at Sleighs N’ Leis (aka Cellar 335). Afterwards, we walked back to our apartment and Zoe asked me to stay outside with her so she could smoke a cigarette. My husband went upstairs and unbeknownst to me, was setting up candles, music and an ice cream cake that said “yeehaw” (we were moving to Nashville a few months later). I walked into the apartment, saw everything and saw him standing in front of our Christmas tree with the biggest smile on his face. He told me to step back, breathe, and then he got down on one knee. I still remember the overwhelming feeling of love and happiness and emotion… and I get to relive it whenever I want since Zoe was secretly recording the entire time.

Once you jumped into wedding planning, what made you choose your Landmark venue?

We’ve spent our entire relationship in Jersey City and absolutely love living here. We knew that we wanted to get married in our favorite city, and with a backdrop of the city in which we met. Plus, you can’t beat that view!

What was your favorite part of your wedding day and why?

Walking down the aisle and seeing my husband… and being surrounded by so much love from our friends and family.

What is the best advice you can give to future brides and grooms?

Make your wedding your own. Do non-traditional things, like wear sparkly gold boots, or leather jackets… and have fun with your décor, especially around the holidays. Give yourself and your guests (if applicable) fun non-alcoholic drink options instead of the standard juice or soda. Do a guest phonebook instead of a written one. Change up your processional music to something that’s more meaningful to you and your partner. And most importantly, remember that this is YOUR wedding, and it should be perfect and everything you want it to be.

Give a shout out to your vendors that made your day perfect – Event stylist, bridal attendant, florist, photographer, videographer, entertainment, etc.!
