Our Mission

The Mission of the Foundation is to support the needs and dreams of hospitality workers by offering career paths, growth opportunities and propelling career advancement while offering financial support. We are committed to acting as a safety net to hospitality workers in Hudson and Union Counties and believe that the hospitality industry is one that provides endless opportunities for all. It is an industry which has no bias, and an individual’s achievements are limitless as long as they possess a willingness to learn and have a passion for giving.

School and Business Incubator

We have created a well-respected Hospitality School and a Business Incubator that introduces the underemployed and unemployed to entry level positions in Hospitality. This is all reinforced with the inclusion of life skill classes such as Financial Literacy, ESL (English Second Language) and GED offered to all.

Art of Hospitality additionally helps those already in the industry unravel their potential and grow their talents and business, thus being afforded the opportunity for advancement. This is achieved through higher level classes and coaching. The Hospitality Entrepreneur who is starting their career will have available space, guidance and access to opportunities to help to grow their start up and hence prosper in New Jersey

Caring for Our Fellow Hospitality Workers

The second part of our Mission is to act as a platform for giving to our fellow Hospitality Workers who need assistance. This assistance includes both emergency funds for legal, immigration, tragedies such as fire or medical. Additionally, we are committed to providing financial assistance to allow for career and personal development. We will be giving out 5 scholarships per year to individuals who will transfer from our Certificate Program to one of our higher education partners, Hudson County Community College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Both colleges will accept our certificate towards graduation credits

Believing strongly in the importance of embracing the communities in which we do business, a corporate giving program, “Help Us Give” (HUG) was established in 2001 where 10% of our restaurant’s three most popular tables is contributed to this cause. The efforts of HUG have been recognized by American Express and the National Restaurant Association. Landmark Hospitality has been awarded the “Good Neighbor Award” for the State of New Jersey and the “Governors Diamond Award on Tourism.”

Events we hold for the community include Tree Lighting Ceremonies, Spring Egg Hunts, Movies in the Park, and Halloween Pumpkin Patches. For the last 15 years we have held the Snowflake Awards, where over 350 Jersey City school kids from grades 1 to 4 compete in holiday tree decorating and enjoy a fun day with local celebrities and entertainers. Winning schools receive monetary donations to their art departments.

About Us

The Cretella family is synonymous with hospitality. Merging their love of culinary and architecture with their innate business acumen, Jeanne and Frank Cretella have built Landmark Hospitality from the ground up. Not only innovators within the industry for over four decades, Jeanne and Frank – together since they were both twelve years old – have been married for close to 40 years.

The opening of Liberty House, our first Jersey City waterfront property in 2001, reconfirmed us as a dynamic powerhouse within the world of hospitality. Prior to making our mark in New Jersey, we owned and operated The Boat House in Central Park, NYC; Lundy’s, a former popular Brooklyn seafood restaurant, and American Park, a Battery Park eatery with a direct view of the Statue of Liberty. Today, Landmark Hospitality owns and operates a portfolio of over 11 distinctive venues, boutique hotels and impeccable restaurants throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Our team members are Memorymakers – the ones who set the scene for creating exceptional memories – and we specialize in perfecting the art of fine dining, weddings, corporate events, on-site catering, and destination events.

In 2001, Frank, a seasoned real estate developer, established Landmark Developers, a boutique real estate development company and its in-house construction firm, Black Dog Construction. The pair are widely known for transforming historical or underutilized properties into uniquely modern residential complexes, vibrant retail, office spaces and prestigious hospitality venues. Jeanne has devoted much of her time to working with schools around the state dedicated to students with Autism. She has successfully spearheaded partnerships between students with disabilities and restaurants throughout the State with the goal of providing these individuals with real work experience. In 2015 their daughter, Maddy, joined Landmark Hospitality and is responsible for continuing to grow the Landmark brand as a leader in hospitality. The trio is all about people, exceptional experiences, relationships and celebrations. This mentality is what has helped them to grow their team to 900+ employees.

We have always strived to make an impact on our community by continuing to give back. Landmark’s corporate giving program, “Help Us Give” (H.U.G.) was established in 2001 and is dedicated to helping the community – specifically youth – through local charities and events. Most recently, we established the Art of Hospitality Workers Alliance, a foundation to support the needs and dreams of hospitality workers by offering career paths, growth opportunities, and propelling career advancement all while offering financial support.

With many more exciting projects on the horizon, the Cretella’s and their fellow Memorymakers have no plans on slowing down.
